One sheet wraps once around the light, and a little further. Its edge overlaps itself and stays open. One groove runs all the way round, near the rim. AMICTUS is designed and made in our studio in Germany. The matte mineral surface reads like stone by day and glows softly when the light is on.

The name

One sheet, wrapped once.

Amictus is the Latin word for a garment wrapped around the body. It comes from the verb amicire, to wrap around. AMICTUS is shaped as one sheet, wrapped once around the light.

The edge of the sheet passes over itself and stays open, like the end of a cloth laid over the shoulder. One groove runs all the way round, near the rim.

Hanging it

It rests on the ring.

  1. Unscrew the lower ring from the socket of any E27 cord set.
  2. Pass the socket down through the hole in the top of the shade.
  3. Screw the ring back on below the top. The shade rests on it and hangs level.
  4. To change the bulb, lift the shade about 25 cm up the cord and let it slide back.

  • Size: 220 mm high, 139 x 149 mm across (160 mm across the outer edge of the sheet)
  • Shade: matte PLA with a stone-like texture. The sheet is 8 mm thick. The shade is one piece, with a flat top and one round hole for the socket.
  • Colours: Bone, Beige, Stone, Olive, Navy (all matte)
  • Fits a standard E27 pendant cord set. The shade rests on the lower ring of the socket. The cord set is not included.

Installation
  1. Switch off the power at the fuse box and check that the wires are dead. A qualified electrician should connect the light to the ceiling wiring.
  2. On a table, unscrew the lower ring from the socket of your cord set.
  3. Pass the socket down through the hole in the top of the shade.
  4. Screw the ring back onto the socket, below the top. The shade rests on the ring and hangs level.
  5. Screw in an E27 LED bulb (globe, up to 60 mm diameter).
  6. Hang the cord set and connect it as described in its own instructions. Switch the power back on.
Changing the bulb

Switch the light off and let the bulb cool. Lift the shade about 25 cm up the cord. Change the bulb. Let the shade slide back down onto the ring. Leave about 25 cm of free cord above the shade for this.

Care and safety
  • Use LED bulbs only. Never use halogen or incandescent bulbs. The shade is made of plastic and must not get hot.
  • The shade rests on the ring and is not locked to it. Do not pull or push the shade upward while the light is hanging.
  • For dry indoor rooms only.
  • Dust with a soft, dry brush. Do not use water or cleaning products.
  • Keep away from open flames and heat sources.
