Studio
Drawn as form first. Given a job second.
Kay Galerie is a small design studio in Markdorf, near Lake Constance. We make light and objects for rooms people actually live in.
How a piece begins
Every piece starts as a drawing, not a trend. We give it one gesture: a fold, a cut, a line of light. Then we ask what that gesture does. If it has no job, the piece does not leave the studio.
Made when you order it
Nothing waits on a shelf. Your piece is made in our studio in Germany after you order it, then checked and packed in the same room.
Numbered
Each piece carries the Kay Galerie mark and its own serial number, on a face you find when you look for it. No two pieces share a number.
What we make
Pendant shades that turn a bulb into a column of warm light. Small objects for the shelf and the desk. Our first side tables are in the studio now, and they join the collection when they pass our own tests.
What it is made of
Every page states the material, the size and the weight, plainly. Our shades and objects are matte PLA with a fine mineral surface, made in one colour each.
A young studio
We are new, and we say so. The collection is small on purpose and grows one piece at a time, when a piece is ready.
For projects
Architects and interior designers: we make sets, colours and sizes for a specific room. See Projects.
